You may have been in situations before where you’ve needed a locksmith after locking your keys in your car, losing your keys, or breaking a key in a lock, for example. These are all fairly common reasons to need a locksmith, but not every aspect of our jobs as locksmiths is all that common.

Here are a few of the more unusual and uncommon reasons why you might need a locksmith.

You’ve bought a locked safe

This might sound like the start of a mystery novel, but it is possible to find locked safes at flea markets or yard sales. Perhaps the previous owner found it in an ancestors’ belongings and didn’t know where the key was, or maybe they just lost the key to their own safe and wanted to get rid of it (assuming no valuables were still inside).

Whatever the story is behind the safe, you can have yourself a cheap safe if you can just get inside of it. And that’s where a professional locksmith can help.

Electric strikes

An electric strike is not the most common kind of lock used today, especially for residential homes. They may be used in commercial buildings and apartment blocks for secure entry, and locksmiths can help if there are any problems with getting into a building locked by an electric strike. If you’re unsure of what an electric strike is, this blog explains it all.

Panic room

A panic room is a room in your house where you can go in the event of an emergency, such as a break in, to keep you safe while you wait for help to arrive. They can be securely locked from the inside to prevent potential intruders entering. Obviously, not every home has one, but creating a panic room may require a locksmith to install high-security locks or a security door.

Car ignition repair

It’s not uncommon to need automobile locksmith services after losing your car keys or accidentally locking your keys in your car, but a rarer problem that we get called out to is when the car ignition itself is damaged. So, you can get into the car, you just can’t get it started. Some cars are eliminating this problem now with keyless ignition, but if your car doesn’t have this technology, then a damaged ignition can be a real problem.

If you face any of these problems, or any other unusual lock and key situation, then we can help you out of your tough spot. We serve customers in Winston Salem, High Point, Lexington, and surrounding areas in North Carolina, so get in touch if you need our help.
